JuškevičienėSummaryInvestigations of the suitability of various sweet basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) cultivarswere carried out at the Institute of Horticulture, Lithuanian Research Centre for Agriculture andForestry, in the experimental base field crop rotation in 2008–2009. As the object of investigationthere were selected six cultivars producing the foliage of different colour and size: ‘DarkOpal’, ‘Cinamon’, ‘Fine Verde’, ‘Red Rubin’, ‘Holly’ and ‘Genovese’.During investigations there were evaluated morphological features of different sweet basilcultivars, productivity and there were established the main biochemical indices in fresh herbs.Key words: basil, biochemical composition, cultivar, fresh herbs, growth periods, yield,plant.75
