DOMINANT DEBUT<br />

True to their sporting pedigree, Patrick Monteiro de Barros and Paulo Mirpuri<br />

did not hold back when it came to competitive sailing, as their latest sailing<br />

project measured up against their peers at the highest level. They reached<br />

the podium in every race at the CIM Championship for the Falcon, the beautiful<br />

classic yacht of the Q class, and secured an overall victory in their class,<br />

surpassing 63 opponents<br />

Better was (almost) impossible. In its<br />

first competitive season, after being<br />

acquired by two prominent figures in the<br />

contemporary history of Clube Naval de<br />

Cascais, Patrick Monteiro de Barros and<br />

Paulo Mirpuri, and meticulously restored,<br />

the fantastic Falcon, a classic Q-class yacht,<br />

left no room for competition in the international<br />

circuit dedicated to this type of<br />

boat. But we’ll get to that...<br />

For now, it’s important to give a brief historical<br />

overview of the project that brought<br />

the two long-time friends together, who<br />

were also accomplices in this new adventure,<br />

based on the accounts and memories of the<br />

Honorary Commodore of Clube Naval de<br />

Cascais. Starting naturally by recalling<br />

how it all began: aboard the Green Eyes,<br />

in a conversation between its owner, Paulo<br />

Mirpuri, and Patrick Monteiro de Barros,<br />

when the latter reveals that, after four<br />

seasons competing in 6M (achieving five<br />

podium finishes in World and European<br />

Championships, two silvers - 2020 World<br />

Championship and 2022 European Championship<br />

in Cascais, both times with equal<br />

points to the winners - and three bronzes),<br />

he believed it was time to change classes, to<br />

a less physical boat, considering he was the<br />

veteran skipper in 6M. Following that, he<br />
