GO, YOUNG PEOPLE!
A fundamental pillar of the activity of Clube Naval de Cascais, the training
programme once again had its big annual celebration at the beginning of
November, with the traditional tournament and the highly anticipated awards
ceremony of the Cavalinhos d’Ouro initiative. For over two decades, this
initiative has been recognizing the young sailors, coaches, and competition
teams that stand out in various areas throughout the sports season
In 2023, November 11th was chosen to
carry out the Cavalinhos d’Ouro initiative,
an event organized by Clube Naval
de Cascais. Since 2001, this event aims to
recognize the young sailors, coaches, and
competition teams (this year, Optimist,
420, and ILCA) from CNC who stand out
in various aspects of their activity throughout
the season. It highlights factors such
as sports performance, progress, teamwork,
and the values of the club itself. The sailors
from different teams compete in various
categories, and the nomination and final
decision of the winners are made by a committee
composed of coaches from different
teams and classes, as well as members of
Clube Naval de Cascais.
It is only fair to highlight that the sports
season of 2022-2023 was once again marked
by notable successes for the teams of CN-
Cascais. Worth mentioning is the victory
of Boudie van Dishoeck and the second
place of Carlos Charabati in the ILCA 4
Portuguese Championship, organized in
Cascais by the CNC; the sixth position
achieved by Carlos Charabati in the ILCA 4
Junior Championship held in Volos, Greece;
the third place obtained by Francisco Uva
Sancho and José Vozone (Vice-Champions
of Portugal in the male category) in the 420
Portuguese Championship, also organized by
the CNC; the 32nd place of Tiago Martins
dos Santos and Salvador Baptista Fernandes
in the Junior European Championship of
420, held in Gdynia, Poland; the 8th place
of Francisco Uva Sancho and José Vozone
in the 420 World Championship, held in
Alicante, Spain; and, in the Optimist Pre-
-competition category, the victory of Clube
Naval de Cascais in the Portuguese Sailing
Schools Cup, in Viana do Castelo.
TIME TO CELEBRATE
As tradition dictates, the day of the Cavalinhos
d’Ouro always begins with the Cavalinhos
d’Ouro Tournament, disputed by teams
made up of diverse groups in terms of age,
sailing classes, and gender. The competition
featured sailors from the CNC’s competition
teams (420, Optimist, and ILCA) and pre-
-competition teams (Optimist and ILCA),
