Cavalinhos d’Ouro Awards 2022/2023
totalling forty sailors divided into five teams
of eight members each. In the morning, the
customary treasure hunt took place, where
the younger participants searched for questions
about the history and facts of Clube
Naval de Cascais. In the afternoon, five races
were held, with four teams competing at a
time, and each team had to allocate their
members to five different boats: one Hansa,
one Laser Cascais, one Laser Pico, and two
Optimists. In the end, a classification was
established that included the results of both
activities, and it crowned the team Wigglie
Dolphins as the winner of the Cavalinhos
D’Ouro Tournament. The winning team
consisted of Bernardo Neto, João Marote,
Arina Tsyshkova, Francisco Barreto, Maria
Menezes e Castro, Felix de Groot, Karolina
Leite, and Francisco Camacho.
To close the day, the mandatory dinner
was held, which this year was attended not
only by current sailors but also by former
members of CNCascais’ competition and
pre-competition teams. It was also time to
award prizes for the different categories,
related to the 2022-2023 season: Most
Dedicated Sailor - Duarte Champalimaud
(Optimist B); Most Fun Sailor - Diogo
Reis (Optimist A); Sailor with the Most
Team Spirit - Francisco Camacho (420);
Revelation Sailor or Most Improved - Guilherme
Ryder (Optimist B); Team of the
Year - ILCA; Coach of the Year - Bernardo
Loureiro (ILCA); Sailor of the Year - Carlos
Charabati (ILCA).
