SUMMARY
Cytokine profiles in patients with complicated and noncomplicated Brucellosis
Brucellosis that occurred by Brucella spp is an important zoonotic disease which
can be contagious to people with several ways and seen widespread in Turkey and in the
world. It exists as an endemic in our region. It is a fakultative intracelluler bacteria. So
the treatment of the disease takes a long time and disease may occur with relapse and
reinfections. Disease which can affect all the systems, rarely can cause permanent
sequelas and moreover deaths.
In this study, the levels of IL-2, IL-6, IL-10, IFN-γ, TNF-α have been
determined by ELISA method in brucellosis cases pre-treatment serums and compared
with a control group. The aim of this study is to find new immun parameters that can be
observed in patients with complication by determination of pre-treatment cytokin levels.
This study includes 40 brucellosis patients and 40 volunteers. According to the
findings of the study, it is found that levels of serum IFN-γ is higher and significant in
patient group (p0.05).
In the comparison of with and without complicated groups, it is found that the levels of
serum TNF-α is higher and significant as statistical in patient group with complicated
