REPORTÁŽ
Suzuki Maďarsko
Résumé
Central and Eastern Europe have become a distinctive car manufacturing
centre. The fact that car factories are also, among
other things, the accelerator of cross-border cooperation proves
Hungarian plant Suzuki in Esztergom that began writing
its history in 1991. Over the past 17 years 280 000 billion
Hungarian forints were invested in Magyar Suzuki. Expansion
continues at the Esztergom plant, which has so far produced
1 280 000 cars and by the end of 2008 one and a half million
units in production will be achieved. Magyar Suzuki is proud
of the fact that it has now been top of the rankings for sales
of new vehicles for 11 consecutive years on a Hungarian market.
Ninety percent of Magyar Suzuki’s production is made
for export. After the introduction of Swift in 2005, the launch
of new models continued with SX4 in 2006 and with Splash
known by its nickname "baby" in February 2008. Planned revenue
for 2008 is about 648.8 billion forints. Magyar Suzuki
believes that Splash, which has been developed for European
customers, brings together an array of the most contemporary
technical solutions, will open a new chapter in Suzuki’s
success story. All Splash, SX4 and Swift cars exported to the
European market are produced in Hungary. Besides complete
car models a variety of bodywork parts for spare parts are
made here. Even though the production of Agnes cars was semiautomatic,
the whole Splash manufacturing is fully automated
thanks to worldwide well-know yellow robots from FANUC.
Forasmuch as Magyar Suzuki does not make the engines, petrol
engines are imported from the mother company in Japan, and
diesel engines are imported from a new built Suzuki plant in India.
The engines of all Suzuki models fulfil the Euro – 4 European
environmental criteria and the Hungarian plant holds the
ISO 14001 Certificate confirming the environmental aptness.
Magyar Suzuki is not only proud of its growth, but also of various
social benefits and career opportunities. Currently there
are 5500 employees of whom 40% are from Slovakia mostly
from Štúrovo and its surroundings. Despite the severe market
conditions and global financial and economic crisis Magyar Suzuki
strictly monitor and review market trends and adjust its
production accordingly.
