Success record for 2012
2012 was a year of growth for BayFOR. The workforce of the
scientific units was significantly increased so that by the end of
the year, 20 scientific officers distributed across five subject-specific
units and six project managers could provide support for Bavarian
parties on the subject of EU research funding.

on 31/12/2012. In the case of nine additional projects submitted
with the support of BayFOR in 2012, the evaluation result fell
above the required threshold for funding. However, funding was
not allocated.
In 2012, BayFOR carried out 608 consultations on funding opportunities
for Bavarian players from science, industry and the
public sector. As a result, a total of 110 project applications were
submitted by Bavarian parties with the support of BayFOR (by
31/12/2012). EU and national funds allocated to BayFOR-supported
projects in 2012 totalled 32.1 million euros; 8,424,887 of
which are contributed to Bavarian project partners.
Numerous projects
Numerous EU projects prepared and submitted by the team in
previous years received funding in 2012, including four projects
– HarWin, POCAONTAS, AlpBC, GeoMol – which have BayFOR
as a consortium or project management partner. 36 applications
BayFOR is also a consortium partner of six EU projects launched
prior to 2012: CAMbrella, Chemlab II, CLIMB, LARGECELLS,
TIRCON and WE-EEN. In the cases of CAMbrella, CLIMB, LARGE-
CELLS and TIRCON, BayFOR is responsible for the project
management and offers support with the dissemination of the
scientific results. 2012 was an eventful year for CAMbrella in particular,
since the three-year funding period ended in winter with a
very successful final conference organised by BayFOR in Brussels.
In addition to bilateral consultancy and support with applications,
BayFOR provided information at numerous events about European
funding programmes, specific calls and the BayFOR range of
services. BayFOR played an active part in 108 events, whether as
a (co)organiser, speaker or exhibitor.
