The Company
Höller, Bosch, Westdickenberg and Laudenberg – SN
combines the technology and innovative strength of the
five most influential German packaging companies. With
five decades of experience, business acumen, foresight,
a unique culture of innovation and enormous personal
commitment, the SN management team has forged the
global leader for horizontal rotary machines. Today, German
packaging technology specialist SN Maschinenbau
GmbH is a company with a solid past and excellent prospects
for the future.
Wipperfürth. A tranquil, medium-sized
town in the district of Oberbergischer
Kreis. At the edge of town, near the Wupper
River, SN Maschinenbau is located
– the world’s leading supplier for rotary-type horizontal
machines. That means that all machines developed and
built here are used in large production companies later
on to pack fruit puree into practical squeezable pouches,
fill the right mix of powdered soup into the packs or to fill
colour into piping bags.
Lanfer Automation as an
Extended Workbench
The contact between Markus Kuhlmann of Lanfer Automation
and the responsible electrical engineer of SN Maschinenbau
Jan Kronenberg was established at a trade fair
at the beginning of 2015. “At that time Dr.-Ing. Christian
Kettler became the new manager of SN and we got into
conversation,” Kuhlmann remembers.
Dr. Christian Kettler is the part of the management that
primarily controls the fate of the company on site, whereas
managing partner Dipl.-Ing. Olaf Clemens is on the
road a lot. Dr. Kettler: “He is the motor of innovation for
SN Maschinenbau. There is no stopping Mr Clemens. He
always provides news ideas and impulses when coming
back from his journeys and establishes a lot of interesting
and important contacts.” It is probably thanks to the
unstoppable thirst for action of the entire SN Maschinenbau
team that the company continues to grow. While the
company had 45 employees in 2010, the number has increased
by 230 until today. “This rate of growth is above
average and very, very fast,” Dr. Kettler states. While the
increasing demands of such a strongly growing company
were integrated into and handled in day-to-day business
in the past, the graduate engineer now sees it as
one of his tasks to implement new, optimized processes
that need to be adapted. “What has been compensated
for by the great diligence of our employees until now,
needs to be compensated for by optimized processes
in future. There is an enormous identification with the
company and the employees are proud of what we have
achieved. That is the only reason why we could carry on
this workload for such a long time,” Dr. Kettler looks back
to the recent past.
SN Maschinenbau is a strategic supplier for multinational
companies like Nestlé, Kraft Foods or Unilever.
