08:00 a.m. – Melanie Wolbring starts her working day at the<br />
desk. “Today, I’m going to write recommendation letters for<br />
different employees. Of course, it’s the immediate supervisors<br />
who evaluate the employees’ performance, however, I always<br />
have to write the final letter of recommendation. What’s<br />
more, I have to draw up employment contracts before I have<br />
a meeting with the shareholder Ann-Kathrin Löhr who is<br />
responsible for human resources management. This is also<br />
part of my job,” Wolbring says.<br />
Meanwhile, Dr. Julia Pradel is planning an employee survey<br />
in the office next door. “This employee survey is just one of<br />
the many measures we planned for 2016 apart from the daily<br />
human resources activities. We want to further improve our<br />
human resources work in the group, which is why we are<br />
currently planning group-wide concepts. The central issues<br />
here are human resources development and staff retention.”<br />
10:30 a.m. – Together with Ann-Kathrin Löhr, the two talk<br />
about all projects and tasks for 2016. Beside the already<br />
mentioned concept, practical issues like maintenance and<br />
analysis of personnel data, controlling and compensation<br />
systems are discussed, too.<br />
<strong>LB</strong> GmbH is a group of companies with four divisions, 13 companies and more than 800 employees. In our new<br />
section, we would like to give you an insight into different departments. Who does what? A question we will<br />
answer bit by bit in every issue.<br />
Since October 2015, Melanie Wolbring and Dr. Julia Pradel have centrally managed the human resources department of<br />
<strong>LB</strong> GmbH. As their responsibilities cover a wide range of fields within the entire group of companies, no day is like the<br />
other. Numerous appointments out of the office, job interviews and meetings determine their daily routine. The offices of<br />
the two human resources managers can be found at Gut Baarking. Here, they are dealing with all areas of human resources<br />
management in the company <strong>LB</strong> GmbH. We have spent one day with them.<br />
12:30 a.m. – Before lunch, employment contracts and<br />
recommendation letters are sent out. In the late afternoon,<br />
Julia Pradel will have another meeting with the works<br />
council of LEBO – a company of the <strong>LB</strong> Group – and Melanie<br />
Wolbring will have some staff meetings at another location.<br />
This is why they have to gather all relevant documents<br />
together first.
