08:00 a.m. – Melanie Wolbring starts her working day at the
desk. “Today, I’m going to write recommendation letters for
different employees. Of course, it’s the immediate supervisors
who evaluate the employees’ performance, however, I always
have to write the final letter of recommendation. What’s
more, I have to draw up employment contracts before I have
a meeting with the shareholder Ann-Kathrin Löhr who is
responsible for human resources management. This is also
part of my job,” Wolbring says.
Meanwhile, Dr. Julia Pradel is planning an employee survey
in the office next door. “This employee survey is just one of
the many measures we planned for 2016 apart from the daily
human resources activities. We want to further improve our
human resources work in the group, which is why we are
currently planning group-wide concepts. The central issues
here are human resources development and staff retention.”
10:30 a.m. – Together with Ann-Kathrin Löhr, the two talk
about all projects and tasks for 2016. Beside the already
mentioned concept, practical issues like maintenance and
analysis of personnel data, controlling and compensation
systems are discussed, too.
LB GmbH is a group of companies with four divisions, 13 companies and more than 800 employees. In our new
section, we would like to give you an insight into different departments. Who does what? A question we will
answer bit by bit in every issue.
Since October 2015, Melanie Wolbring and Dr. Julia Pradel have centrally managed the human resources department of
LB GmbH. As their responsibilities cover a wide range of fields within the entire group of companies, no day is like the
other. Numerous appointments out of the office, job interviews and meetings determine their daily routine. The offices of
the two human resources managers can be found at Gut Baarking. Here, they are dealing with all areas of human resources
management in the company LB GmbH. We have spent one day with them.
12:30 a.m. – Before lunch, employment contracts and
recommendation letters are sent out. In the late afternoon,
Julia Pradel will have another meeting with the works
council of LEBO – a company of the LB Group – and Melanie
Wolbring will have some staff meetings at another location.
This is why they have to gather all relevant documents
together first.
