and supports the “Decade of Action for
Road Safety “ launched by the United
Nations. DVR is particularly involved in the
European ECOWILL Project (ECOdriving
- Widespread Implementation for Learner
Drivers and Licensed Drivers), under which
instructors from DVR pass on their knowhow
to disseminators in many countries. It
was the first time that this project has now
been presented to some countries of the
Middle East and the Gulf region.
Companies and Vehicles
“Sicherheit auf allen Wegen“ (“Safety on
all roads”) is the joint programme of the
German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV)
and of DVR. In 2011 it focused again on the
prevention of accidents at work, business
travel accidents and commuting accidents.
The programme covers a broad variety of
topics, and it is continually kept up to date
and expanded. All member associations
joined in 2011 in strengthening the cooperation
in prevention activities for children
and young people who, until then, were not
among the programme’s immediate target
groups.
The annual focus prevention campaign
“Regelgerecht. Vorfahrt für Verantwortung“
(According to the Rules. Give Way
to Responsibility) and the 2011 Youth
Campaign “move safely – respect rules”
dealt with the topic of compliance with
the rules. The work on the GUROM
prevention project was continued
under the direction of DVR; GUROM
stands for “Gefährdungsbeurteilung
und Risikobewertung organisationaler
Mobilität” which means “risk assessment
and risk evaluation of company related
mobility”. GUROM aims at identifying
threats to individual persons, providing the
appropriate feedback, and recommending
appropriate preventive measures. Within
this project, decision makers at workplaces
shall be enabled to demonstrate the
exposure to danger of entire departments
and companies.
In 2011, education and training was again
a substantial sphere of action for DVR.
Proven seminars and training courses as
well as tailor-made activities and events
were offered to different target groups
in various companies. The topics of the
seminars, training courses and presentations
dealt among others with speeding, physics
of driving, stress, fatigue, emotions, alcohol
and drugs, load securing, passenger safety
and occupant protection, and changes
to the Highway Code. Where required,
practical units where organized, such as
using a driving simulator or coaching trips
in real traffic situations. Many half-day
seminars named “Alles im Griff?“ (“Got
a grip on it?”), which are dedicated to
apprentices and trainees, were held again
in companies, educational institutions and
vocational schools.
There were also many training courses
provided within the training programme for
emergency vehicle drivers. The programme
“Betriebsberatung – Verkehrssicherheit
und Arbeitswelt“ (Company Advice - Road
safety & Working environment) was carried
