a home office day. That’s an additional
relief for colleagues who sometimes have
to commute up to 50 kilometres to work.
Working from home is also possible more
often. However, it is important to us that
more than 50 per cent of an employee’s
working time is spent in the company.
Because if employees exchange information
only via online meetings and
don’t experience our corporate culture
first-hand, the workplace will eventually
become indistinguishable from any other
company.
To what extent are young trainees part of
this corporate culture?
Supporting young talent is an integral
part of our philosophy. Every year, we
offer apprenticeships for IT specialists
in application development and system
integration. We’ve also been a training
partner for the local university of cooperative
education, the Berufsakademie
Glauchau, from the very beginning. The
professors know and appreciate us because
they can be sure that new team
members will receive practical support,
true to the spirit of a family business.
They’re involved in all the work processes
right from the start of their
dual study programme. In addition to a
person responsible for training, we also
have an organisational contact person
and professional mentors – this combination
has established itself excellently
over the years. .
DELTA BARTH Systemhaus GmbH serves
around 300 companies nationwide. Do
you sometimes consider putting out feelers
beyond Germany’s borders?
Indeed, we’ve thought about it from time
to time. I can’t rule it out in the future, but
at the moment, it doesn’t make sense for
us to expand. We are a hands-on company
and want to remain that way. That
means that we don’t just look after our
users over the phone – we usually also
visit them on-site to provide technical
support.
Does that also mean that international
specialists are not yet an issue for DELTA
BARTH?
We do employ some people with
foreign roots, but that came about
through the recommendations that I
mentioned at the beginning. We haven’t
looked for them actively yet. Our
international professionals come from
Bulgaria and India, but they have been
settled in the region for years and feel
like they’ve found their place here.
They value having a long-term employment
relationship and appreciate the
family environment in our company. In
addition, they have convinced us with
their expertise, and they contribute as
team players. Incidentally, we also attach
great importance to this with our
German employees. If you can communicate
with each other directly and on
an equal footing, you’ll feel at home in
our company. That’s also why I have a
hard time when it comes to advertising
vacancies. Just checking off qualifications
says nothing about applicants. I
prefer to meet face to face and get a
feel for the positions in our company
where they can develop best.
