job before their temporary residence
permit expires.
Bureaucracy and a willingness
to help
But Jihed also received some guidance:
a friend helped him find accommodation
and his colleagues at SIGMA supported
him in obtaining the urgently needed
recognition of his Tunisian qualification.
Once all the documents were submitted
in March 2023, it took until July for
the Central Office for Foreign Education
(ZAB) to send its decision.
Fortunately, everyone at SIGMA was ready
to go. Everything was quickly finalised
contractually and Jihed was able to start
the very next month. “I feel welcome
because I’m not just an employee here”,
explains the 30-year-old Tunisian. He
appreciates the friendly atmosphere,
even if he still has a little difficulty with
how quickly everyone speaks. “For me,
challenges are always opportunities”, he
adds. He has learnt many new words in
a short amount of time, has been able to
get a flavour of all the departments, and
his colleague Arvid actively helps him.
Jihed is one of many international employees
at SIGMA. The IT company values
what people from different cultures and
regions bring to the table. From the many
languages in which they can speak to
their customers to the new perspectives
and approaches that make an international
team so successful. A collegial
atmosphere where everyone treats each
other as an equal is part of the recipe
for success. Team events such as the
summer and Christmas parties and participation
in sporting competitions also
contribute to rapid integration.
Jihed, for one, feels at home at SIGMA:
