E-commerce is more varied than some
people realise. Selecting and purchasing
products is just as much a part of the
job as photographing and editing the
product displays, and roles range from
order processing to handling customer
feedback. Employees can utilise their
creative streaks as well as their business
and technical skills, swapping the shop for
a cosy office.
So it’s no wonder that training in e-commerce
was a long-held dream for Mahshid.
The 23-year-old grew up in Iran and
came to Germany with her family back in
2015, graduating from secondary school
here in 2020. However, she dropped out
of her vocational baccalaureate and started
working in a different field.
Mahshid stayed true to her
dream
She had been interested in e-commerce
since her school days, as it was one of the
areas her career counsellor believed she
was suited to. However, the teams in the
region’s online shops are often too small
to provide the necessary resources for
a trainee position. After all, it takes time
to train young people, plus the cost of a
training licence.
In 2023, Mahshid contacted the employment
agency and joined a pre-vocational
training programme. She was encouraged
to go directly to the online shops in
the region and enquire about an apprenticeship.
One day, Mahshid was standing
in the corridor at Revolte. The bosses
didn’t think twice. Mahshid was able to get
a taste of the company very quickly, familiarising
herself with the various areas
of the Group, including its websites, print
media and campaigns. It quickly became
clear that Mahshid was a perfect fit for
the world of e-commerce.
Her current trainer Robert was impressed
by the 23-year-old from the outset.
When she successfully created a product
for the first time, Mahshid’s delight was
obvious. “You can teach a lot of things,
but you can't teach people to enjoy their

work”, explains the 39-year-old e-commerce
professional. So Robert sat down
with his team to make a decision: could
they run a training programme for the
first time in the company’s 20-plus year
history? What would they need to bear
in mind? Would everyone want to be
involved?

The result? Mahshid began her apprenticeship
as an e-commerce clerk in
October 2023, giving up her other job.
Her dream has now come true in a place
where training in this field is still a real rarity.
Robert spent several weeks at night
school to obtain his training licence and
appreciates the theory he learned. “At
one time I wanted to be a nursery school
teacher. By doing this, I can bring some of
my old career aspirations to the table and
learn something interesting.”
So Mahshid has made her mark and
her family and four siblings are proud of
her. Her vocational school is in Zwickau,
so she will have to commute there for a
few weeks at a time in the future. She is
already looking forward to this and to the
variety in her job. Further training in specialised
English is still to come, and next
year she will be attending a trade fair for
the first time. But she is already able to
complete tasks independently and is a
natural part of the team. “I look forward to
my work every day and am happy to have
received my dream training at Revolte
Campus.”
