over time. “Because at some point work
is over, and you’re on your own again.
Without German language skills, integration
into society is scarcely possible.
You can’t rely on everyone speaking
English, even for small everyday things
like dealing with the authorities, visiting
the doctor or doing the weekend
shopping. Communication on an equal

a one-way street. This means that we
share typical German customs, too,
such as group trips to the Christmas
market. On the other hand, we also
adapt to the cultural customs of the
countries represented at team events,
for example by taking cultural and
religious specificities into account with
the catering.” Jaroslav Dousa advises
all new arrivals who want to gain a professional
foothold in Germany to not
just sit at home, but to immerse themselves
in cultural life. His insider tip for
learning the language: “German folk
songs,” smiles the passionate accordion
player. “In the early days, they were
my best language lessons, even if they
weren’t always popular with everyone
around me.”

The development, production

companies in the Group, a total of 20
per cent of employees have foreign
roots. “This is due to the fact that software
development is a highly suitable
field for international specialists with a
limited knowledge of German,” explains
