• <strong>OLE</strong> <strong>HOOP</strong> (Germany) under her owners K.Nölter and J. Michaelis, sailed around the<br />

globe between 1991 - 1994. The voyage is summarised in a book ("Der erfüllbare<br />

Traum"). A number of articles of their cruises have been published in the German<br />

sailing magazine "Yacht".<br />

Ole Hoop, with the same owners, has been reported missing west of Cape Horn on<br />

Dec 13th, 2002 under way to her second circumnavigation. Her owners were<br />

prominent people in the Germany's blue water community and her loss is sadly<br />

missed in the community. Until today no particular reason has been given why Ole<br />

Hoop went missing. The weather in the area of the incident was reported not to be<br />

particularly difficult with a force 6 reported from a another boat in the area of the<br />

Horn at the time.<br />

• KELPIE (US), was sailed by Richard Henderson from the US-East Coast to the Azores.<br />

This voyage is described in the book "East to the Azores".<br />

• TOUCAN (US) sailed by Keith Sedwick completed a solo-circumnavigation. See link of<br />

• DENALI (US) sailed by Jim Howard crossed the Pacific from Japan to Hawaii mostly<br />

against headwinds.<br />

• JOHN MARTIN of RYE (UK) has cruised over 90,000 miles without accident. Peter and<br />

his family have done four transatlantic crossings with her with a best 24 hour run<br />

(gulaf stream assisted) of 213 nm and a best best windward leg of 170.5 (no current).<br />

• TIOTA under her owner Klaus Reinhartz logged three trans-atlantic crossings and more than 50,000<br />

snm.<br />

Wieder: Weihnachten. Neues Jahr. Grüße versenden. Geschriebene Karten von<br />

der Liste streichen. Geschenke kaufen. Kekse backen. Kerzen anzünden.<br />

Kerzen auspusten. Und in diesem Jahr haben wir vorm Wohnzimmerfenster<br />

einen zugefrorenen Teich. Eigentlich eher eine Überschwemmung. Die einzige<br />

noch übrig gebliebene in unserem Dorf. Die anderen wurden im Laufe der<br />

Jahrzehnte alle trocken gelegt.
