simply raising the number of cores is not enough in<br />

order to cope with performance and safety requirements.<br />

Instead, new heterogeneous multicore systems<br />

that provide dedicated programmable hardware units<br />

and structures are essential. Beside that, the combination<br />

of mixed-critical applications on single platforms<br />

demands for certifiable architecture designs. IP-cores<br />

and corresponding systems have to be reliable and<br />

self-adaptive due to possible errors and malfunctions<br />

during runtime. Still an open question is, how to combine<br />

all available key technologies best? The development<br />

of novel architecture patterns may help to<br />

solve this question and will possibly be the basis for<br />

future hardware/software co-design standards and<br />

methodologies.<br />
