Apron on left is woven of wool and uses natural
dyes. The one on the right is all silk and has
synthetic dyes. The multicolored horizontal
patterns are very similar and long established.

These 3-panel aprons continue to be used today.
The silk one on the right is very finely woven and displays
a veritable rainbow of colors; 3 greens, 2 reds, 2 yellows,
2 blues, orange, aubergine and indigo. Judging from
the worn waistband of black silk brocade, this piece
was well used, but the colors are still fresh and vibrant.
