Tambour stitch cotton embroidery on<br />

cotton, inner and outer border with<br />

metallic thread, beaded edge on 2 sides.<br />

The clothing worn in most <strong>of</strong> Central Asia usually<br />

had no pockets. Small purses, such as these, were<br />

carried or worn on a belt for small personal items.<br />

The few shown here only hint at the incredible variety<br />

<strong>of</strong> what was produced.<br />
