Section Chiefs<br />
● Ensure all personnel and equipment are ready<br />
(inspect gear and personnel thoroughly before<br />
the raid).<br />
● Ensure rapid offload of ammunition and gun.<br />
● Begin ammunition preparation before receiving<br />
fire commands.<br />
● Supervise the rapid emplacement, firing, and<br />
extraction of the howitzer.<br />
● Maintain communications with the RFC.<br />
● Be prepared to assume security mission on<br />
order.<br />
● Ensure recovery of all personnel and equipment<br />
upon extraction.<br />
Fire Controlman<br />
● Input all preplanned data in all BUCS-R before<br />
departing for the raid.<br />
● Prepare charts and records of fire before raid<br />
departure.<br />
● Prepare computer checklist and be prepared to<br />
enter data upon arrival at firing position.<br />
● Maintain records of fire.<br />
● Send fire commands to howitzers once approved<br />
by operations chief.<br />
● Be prepared to receive subsequent corrections.<br />
● Extract all records and equipment.<br />
Radio Operator<br />
● Establish preplanned communications as quickly<br />
as possible and as close to the FDC as terrain and<br />
helicopter routes will allow.<br />
● Establish communications with the following<br />
priorities:<br />
❍ Observers, as required.<br />
❍ Helicopters.<br />
❍ Higher headquarters.<br />
❍ Simultaneous master station, as required.<br />
● Pass all necessary information to the FDC and<br />
the RFC.<br />
● Maintain communications until directed.<br />
● Recover all communications equipment and<br />
material, including messages and notes, upon<br />
extraction.<br />
Gun Guides<br />
● Set up panel markers/chem lights as briefed to<br />
mark location for the assault element.<br />
● Establish communications with aiming circle/<br />
FDC.<br />
● Record initial deflection.<br />
● Act as a legman under guidance of HST leader,<br />
as required.<br />
● Help provide local security until howitzers<br />
arrive.<br />
● Announce initial deflection to gunner.<br />
● Assist in emplacing, firing, and march ordering<br />
of howitzer.<br />
● Ensure all howitzer equipment is extracted.<br />
Security Element<br />
● Receive briefing on layout of LZ/firing position<br />
before the raid.<br />
● Upon landing, conduct sweep of area.<br />
● Establish perimeter security.<br />
● Report security status as directed to the RFC.<br />
<strong>Corps</strong>man<br />
● Have medical equipment necessary for raid<br />
mission.<br />
● Upon landing, stay with FDC.<br />
● Respond to any calls for medical attention.<br />
Survey Personnel (If Required)<br />
● Determine firing point location.<br />
● Establish direction.<br />
HST Leader<br />
● Provide all required personnel and equipment<br />
to quickly guide helicopters onto marked howitzer<br />
positions, and recover howitzer at the end<br />
of the mission.
