GENOCIDE<br />
"Genocide" is an artificial word, half Greek and half<br />
Latin in derivation, like "television".<br />
G ???S means roughly the same as descent, extraction, or<br />
lineage, but is far from meaning a "people". CAEDO<br />
means to strike down, fell, or kill.<br />
The creator o f the term "genocide" Raphael Lemkin.<br />
The inventor o f this word, which has since gained curren<br />
cy in all cultures o f the world, was a man from the part o f<br />
Poland then belonging to Russia. His life was from the<br />
very beginning dominated by the persecution o f Russian<br />
Jews. One terrible word hung dark over his whole existence:<br />
"pogrom".<br />
"Threesam e" by Felix Nussbaum, 1944. He describes here in a<br />
uniqe way the situation o f all those persecuted which lies some<br />
where between fear o f death, death and vague hope.<br />
