IHS is a Christogram for Iesus Hominum Salvator, or Jesus Savior of men. This<br />

particular Christogram is still associated with the Jesuit order today <strong>and</strong> St. Ignatius of<br />

Loyola is frequently depicted in iconography with it.<br />

In its many permutations, the L-heart type features a simple letter L <strong>and</strong> a heart shape<br />

<strong>and</strong> is probably referring to Ignatius of Loyola, but it could also be an abstract<br />

reference to the Sacred Heart.<br />
