School visits
• Observe and video 3 to 4 different tvmbo lessons or activities
• Interview group of 3 subject teachers teaching in tvmbo
• Interview the English teacher(s) teaching in tvmbo
• Interview the TTO coordinator
• Interview group of 5 tvmbo students (from different years if possible; the group
should reflect the make up of the tvmbo population)
I will interview in English and in Dutch, depending on who I am speaking to and everyone
I interview will remain completely anonymous in the final publication.
All of the interviews will be recorded on audio or video (for analysis). As a result of
the interviews, I will create a questionnaire which I will send to your school and others
who have started tvmbo.

09.00-10.45 Observe 3 to 4 (parts of) different tvmbo lessons - preferably
with teachers who are considered by the team to be “good” tvmbo teachers; in different
subject areas, e.g. English, science, a hands-on subject such as art or PE, a history/geography
lesson, a maths lesson
10.45-11.00 Break
11.00-12.00 Interview group of 3 tvmbo subject teachers
