mapped in a systematic way. A Social Impact Assessment (SIA) covers this. An
SIA can give valuable input to project design and planning, also in exit projects.

The scope of a SIA depends on the

location. The scope should be based on
the baseline study, stakeholder dialogue,
and your social knowledge.

a balanced analysis:
A company engaged in a project
may not be seen as independent in its
evaluation. Therefore external expertise
may be advisable.

neutrality, ethical standards, and stakeholder
acceptance.
■ Carry out the SIA at an early stage:
Make sure the SIA is carried out early
enough to provide input to project
design and planning.
■ Company and stakeholders
must be involved:

both stakeholder and company
representatives must be involved
in the assessment process.
