Don't blame the animal! For good or bad, do not blame the animal for whatever happens (has happened or will
happen) in public space!
Animals do not ever take vacations… Unlike their "masters" who are supposed to be our heroes. Heroes also
need to take a vacation every once in a while or else public space will explode with too much symbolic
investment of all kinds. That's dangerous. That's unacceptable for there will not be any room left for private
interest, mine or yours, in public space if it explodes.
Tourists take vacations all the time. That's why they are tourists. They go here and there to see this and that.
They pay good money and want their expectations to be fulfilled. Sometimes they get a package deal, which
includes all sorts of sights to be seen, experiences to be had, and photographs to be made. But tourists are not
part of public space! At least not where they go on vacation… Yet, they too have their private interests to
defend and to satisfy – that's what the tourist agencies are there for. Tourists are the opposite of migrants. Both
are a product and a symptom of globalization.
I am usually commuting between Sofia, where I live, and a number of other places, where I work. I am a
mixture between a tourist and a migrant, years ago they would have said – a nomad. By behaving like a digital
rascal while I am commuting, I try to release tensions in public space wherever I go – that makes me a bit
more then a tourist and a bit less then an activist with a local political agenda. I try to behave like a global
player in reverse who is making symbolic investments in public space on a global scale, that is to say
everywhere I find the fertile ground for it.
Give me back my part of public space! Because I do not think you are going to give it back to the public
anyway…
Nu daţi vina pe animal! Pentru ceea ce este bine sau ceea ce este rău, nu daţi vina pe animal pentru ceea ce se
întâmplă (s-a întâmplat sau se va întâmpla) în spaţiul public!
Animalele nu pleacă niciodată în concediu... Spre deosebire de „stăpânii” lor, care ar trebui să fie eroii noştri. Şi
eroii au nevoie de concediu din când în când, altfel spaţiul public ar exploda de prea multă investiţie simbolică
de toate felurile. Asta e periculos. Asta e inacceptabil, pentru că n-ar mai rămâne loc pentru interesul particular,
al meu sau al tău, pentru spaţiul public, dacă acesta explodează.
Turiştii merg în concediu tot timpul. De-aceea sunt turişti. Merg aici şi dincolo, văd una şi alta. Dau bani buni şi
vor să li se îndeplinească aşteptările. Uneori cumpără un pachet de servicii, care conţine tot felul de locuri de
văzut, experienţe de trăit şi fotografii de făcut. Dar turiştii nu fac parte din spaţiul public! Cel puţin nu în locurile
unde merg să-şi facă concediul... Cu toate acestea, şi ei au propriile lor interese particulare de apărat şi de
satisfăcut – din cauza asta există agenţii de turism. Turiştii sunt opusul migranţilor. Ambele categorii sunt un
produs şi un simptom al globalizării.
Eu fac de obicei naveta între Sofia, unde locuiesc, şi un număr de locuri, unde lucrez. Sunt o combinaţie de
turist şi migrant, cu ani în urmă m-aş fi numit nomad. Comportându-mă ca un şmecher digital când fac naveta,
încerc să dezamorsez tensiunile din spaţiul public oriunde merg – asta mă face să fiu un pic mai mult decât un
turist şi un pic mai puţin decât un activist cu un program politic local. Încerc să mă port ca un jucător global pe
dos, care investeşte simbolic în spaţiul public la scară globală adică oriunde găsesc teren fertil pentru asta.
Redaţi-mi partea mea din spaţiul public! Pentru că oricum nu cred că o s-o redaţi publicului…
