3.3. Results <strong>and</strong> Discussion<br />
In this section, <strong>the</strong> results <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> field survey are given in four sections which are <strong>the</strong><br />
relationship between <strong>the</strong> <strong>use</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> interior design <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>living</strong> <strong>room</strong>, <strong>the</strong> effect<br />
<strong>of</strong> existence <strong>of</strong> a family <strong>room</strong> on <strong>the</strong> <strong>use</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> interior design <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>living</strong> <strong>room</strong>,<br />
group differences on <strong>the</strong> <strong>use</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> interior design <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>living</strong> <strong>room</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
sources <strong>of</strong> interior design <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>living</strong> <strong>room</strong>.<br />
3.3.1. The Relationship between <strong>the</strong> Use <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> Interior Design <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Living<br />
Room<br />
This part includes <strong>the</strong> statistical analysis <strong>and</strong> discussion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> results that are<br />
related to <strong>the</strong> <strong>use</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> interior design <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>living</strong> <strong>room</strong>. Pearson’s correlations<br />
were computed in order to assess this relationship. Before giving <strong>the</strong> results <strong>of</strong><br />
correlations, <strong>the</strong> activities that are performed in <strong>the</strong> <strong>living</strong> <strong>room</strong>s by respondents<br />
<strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir intentions for <strong>the</strong> interior design <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>living</strong> <strong>room</strong>s are defined.<br />
The activities that are performed in <strong>the</strong> <strong>living</strong> <strong>room</strong>s were grouped as <strong>private</strong> <strong>and</strong><br />
<strong>public</strong> activities under <strong>the</strong> scope <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> study. As mentioned earlier, <strong>the</strong> activities<br />
that are performed by <strong>the</strong> family members are accepted as <strong>private</strong> <strong>living</strong> <strong>room</strong><br />
activities <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> activities in which outsiders are involved are accepted as <strong>public</strong><br />
<strong>living</strong> <strong>room</strong> activities. From <strong>the</strong> data collected from 60 respondents in 32 ho<strong>use</strong>s,<br />
<strong>the</strong> <strong>private</strong> activities that are performed in <strong>the</strong> <strong>living</strong> <strong>room</strong>s can be listed as<br />
watching television, just sitting, sitting next to <strong>the</strong> fire place, resting, listening to<br />
