The style <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>living</strong> <strong>room</strong>, <strong>and</strong> overall ho<strong>use</strong> was asked to <strong>the</strong> respondents.<br />
Respondents stated that <strong>the</strong> style <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>living</strong> <strong>room</strong> is <strong>the</strong> same with <strong>the</strong> overall<br />
style <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> ho<strong>use</strong>. The styles <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>living</strong> <strong>room</strong>s that were mentioned by<br />
respondents are modern, minimal, classical, demy-classical, neo-classical, rustic,<br />
country, traditional <strong>and</strong> eclectic. In 4 ho<strong>use</strong>s, at least one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> dweller is ei<strong>the</strong>r an<br />
architect or an interior architect. Living <strong>room</strong>s in all those ho<strong>use</strong>s are claimed to be<br />
modern (see Figure 3.27, 3.28 <strong>and</strong> 3.29 for modern <strong>living</strong> <strong>room</strong>s). According to <strong>the</strong><br />
previous studies, architects seem to assess built environment differently from non-<br />
architects, <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir architectural preferences are different (Vischer <strong>and</strong> Marcus,<br />
1986; Devlin <strong>and</strong> Nasar, 1989; Nasar, 1989; Devlin, 1990; Stamps, 1991; İmamoğlu,<br />
2000; Brown <strong>and</strong> Gifford, 2001; Akalın, Yıldırım, Wilson <strong>and</strong> Kılıçoğlu, 2009). Nasar<br />
(1989) states that in ho<strong>use</strong>s, <strong>the</strong> contemporary style is preferred more by architects<br />
<strong>and</strong> young pr<strong>of</strong>essionals. Regarding <strong>the</strong>ir pr<strong>of</strong>essional background, those<br />
respondents preferred to have a modern or minimal <strong>living</strong> <strong>room</strong>. In this study, 13<br />
<strong>living</strong> <strong>room</strong>s are claimed to be modern in total. It can be said that <strong>the</strong> age range <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> dwellers that preferred modern style is lower compared to o<strong>the</strong>r respondents.<br />
Their age range is between 39 <strong>and</strong> 48.<br />
