<strong>2003</strong> LOUISIANA VITAL STATISTICS REPORT POPULATION Subgroup estimates, expressed as a percentage <strong>of</strong> the total population, indicate that population compositions for <strong>Louisiana</strong> and the United States are very similar in the distribution <strong>of</strong> sex and age (Table1.3). For both the state and the nation, the largest age group is 20-44 years, and the smallest age group is 85 years and above.
