Mortality by Gender
In 2003, there were 21,084 male (49.9%) and 21,213 female (50.1%) deaths in Louisiana (Table 5.4). The crude death rate for
males (966.1 per 100,000 male population) was higher than for females (916.7 per 100,000 female population) (Figure 5.8,
Table 5.4).
