LIVE BIRTHS 2003 LOUISIANA VITAL STATISTICS REPORT Teenagers and pre-teenagers were also more likely to give birth to low birthweight infants, with 13.0% of live births to women 15 -19 years of age being low birthweight (Table 2.10). Education Three-quarters (77.8%) of Louisiana’s live births in 2003 occurred to mothers with at least a high school education. When examined by race, 69.4% of black infants, and 83.4% of white infants, were born to mothers with at least a high school level education (Table 2.11).
