Interpretive Guidelines §483.75(l)(4)<br />

―Keep confidential‖ is defined as safeguarding the content <strong>of</strong> information including<br />

video, audio, or other computer stored information from unauthorized disclosure without<br />

the consent <strong>of</strong> the individual <strong>and</strong>/or the individual‘s surrogate or representative.<br />

If there is information considered too confidential to place in the record used by all staff,<br />

such as the family‘s financial assets or sensitive medical data, it may be retained in a<br />

secure place in the facility, such as a locked cabinet in the administrator‘s <strong>of</strong>fice. The<br />

record should show the location <strong>of</strong> this confidential information.<br />

include those with respect to treatment which has been furnished as well as that<br />

have, including those with respect to the behavior <strong>of</strong> other residents.<br />

Intent §483.10(f)<br />

The intent <strong>of</strong> the regulation is to support each resident‘s right to voice grievances (e.g.,<br />

those about treatment, care, management <strong>of</strong> funds, lost clothing, or violation <strong>of</strong> rights)
