1.6.1 <strong>Verify</strong>ing <strong>the</strong> overall noise suppression feature of a hearing aid using a<br />
composite versus a digital speech signal.<br />

1. <strong>Verify</strong> that <strong>the</strong> noise suppression feature is enabled on <strong>the</strong> hearing aid.<br />
2. Level <strong>the</strong> sound chamber (press [LEVEL]).<br />
3. Attach <strong>the</strong> hearing aid <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> appropriate coupler <strong>and</strong> position <strong>the</strong> microphone at<br />
<strong>the</strong> reference point (with <strong>the</strong> hearing aid facing <strong>the</strong> right side of <strong>the</strong> test<br />
chamber). Close <strong>and</strong> lock <strong>the</strong> chamber lid.<br />
4. Enter <strong>the</strong> <strong>Coupler</strong> screen by pressing [F1] in <strong>the</strong> Opening screen.<br />

Modulated<br />
<strong>Verify</strong> that <strong>the</strong> coupler graph ordinate is in dB<br />
GAIN (“GAIN” should appear in <strong>the</strong> upper left<br />
corner of <strong>the</strong> display). If it reads “SPL,” <strong>the</strong><br />
display will need <strong>to</strong> be changed <strong>to</strong> GAIN by<br />
following <strong>the</strong>se steps:<br />
a. Press [MENU] from <strong>the</strong> <strong>Coupler</strong><br />
screen <strong>to</strong> open <strong>the</strong> <strong>Coupler</strong> menu.<br />
b. Use <strong>the</strong> up <strong>and</strong> down arrows <strong>to</strong> select<br />
Display under Display Settings.<br />
c. Use <strong>the</strong> left <strong>and</strong> right arrows <strong>to</strong><br />
choose GAIN.<br />
d. Press [EXIT].
