Note…The <strong>to</strong>p display graph in Figure 71, labeled “Insertion Gain,” illustrates <strong>the</strong><br />

amount of attenuation provided by <strong>the</strong> foam earplug across <strong>the</strong> frequency range. The<br />

numerical data in Figure 74, correspond with that insertion “attenuation” curve (labeled<br />

6) in Figure 71. This measurement may be used <strong>to</strong> verify <strong>the</strong> response of a musician<br />

earplug or may be helpful in counseling employees enrolled in hearing conservation<br />

programs as <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> proper insertion of hearing protec<strong>to</strong>r devices.
