<strong>Real</strong> <strong>Ear</strong> Measurements 29<br />
2.1 Measuring <strong>the</strong> real-ear unaided gain (REUG) of <strong>the</strong> open ear canal.<br />
STEP-BY-STEP<br />
1. Prior <strong>to</strong> setting up <strong>the</strong> patient for real ear measurements, it is important <strong>to</strong> enter<br />
<strong>the</strong> audiogram with <strong>the</strong> appropriate menu settings. From <strong>the</strong> Opening screen,<br />
press [F2] <strong>to</strong> enter <strong>the</strong> <strong>Real</strong> <strong>Ear</strong> Navigation screen.<br />
2. Press [F1] in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Real</strong> <strong>Ear</strong> Navigation screen <strong>to</strong> enter <strong>the</strong> audiogram entry<br />
screen.<br />

3. Press [MENU] <strong>to</strong> open <strong>the</strong> real ear audiogram menu <strong>and</strong> select <strong>the</strong> appropriate<br />
settings based on <strong>the</strong> patient’s audiogram <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> hearing aid parameters.<br />
These settings are important for <strong>the</strong> generation of real ear targets.<br />
NOTE: Use <strong>the</strong> UP/DOWN arrows <strong>to</strong> select a menu option <strong>and</strong> press <strong>the</strong> RIGHT arrow <strong>to</strong> change<br />
a selection. Press [EXIT] <strong>to</strong> return <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> audiogram entry screen.<br />
REAL EAR AUDIOGRAM MENU - TARGET OPTIONS:<br />
Aud. Transducer: OFF, SF (Soundfield), TDH, ER3<br />
Fitting Rule: NAL-NL1, POGO, BERGER, 1/3 Gain, ½ Gain, 2/3 Gain,<br />
Direct, NAL-RP<br />
Age: Adult, 0-2mos, 3-6mos, 7-12mos, 1-2yrs, 2-3yrs, 3-4yrs, 4-5yrs, 5+yrs<br />
Compression: 40-69 dB<br />
Channels: 1-18+<br />
Aid Limit: Multichannel, Wideb<strong>and</strong>, None<br />
Fit Type: Unilateral, Bilateral<br />
Sound Field: 0°, 45°<br />
Reference Position: Head Surface, Undisturbed<br />

4. The clinician may now enter <strong>the</strong> patient’s audiogram. Use [F1] <strong>to</strong> select an ear<br />
<strong>and</strong> press [F2] <strong>to</strong> select HTL <strong>to</strong> enter <strong>the</strong> patient’s hearing threshold levels. Use<br />
<strong>the</strong> UP/DOWN arrow <strong>to</strong> select a frequency <strong>and</strong> use <strong>the</strong> RIGHT/LEFT arrows <strong>to</strong><br />
select <strong>the</strong> threshold level in 5 dB steps.
