and rose to the rank <strong>of</strong> colonel <strong>of</strong> his<br />

and Sarah (Cornish) Russell, granddaughter<br />

(VII) Major Charles Edwin Cornish,<br />
son <strong>of</strong> Colonel James (5) Cornish, was<br />

February 14, 1882. He lived at Glastonbury.<br />
He was for many years prominent<br />
in the militia, and an excellent <strong>of</strong>ficer, <strong>of</strong><br />
fine presence and a strict disciplinarian.<br />
He married Mary N. Vining, born September<br />
10, 1810, died May 11, 1873,<br />
daughter <strong>of</strong> Thomas Vining. Child,<br />
