Perspectives on Western Culture<br />

<strong>The</strong> religious, philosophical and political<br />

writings <strong>of</strong> major thinkers <strong>of</strong> the Western<br />

tradition. <strong>The</strong> first semester includes the<br />

study <strong>of</strong> the Bible, Aristotle’s Ethics,<br />

Plato’s Apology, Augustine’s City <strong>of</strong><br />

God, and the thought <strong>of</strong> Aquinas.<br />

sanctity by an examination <strong>of</strong> the lives<br />

and accomplishments <strong>of</strong> traditional saints<br />

and <strong>of</strong> contemporary persons who respond<br />

to the Gospel message.<br />

<strong>The</strong> major themes <strong>of</strong> American Catholic<br />

tradition from colonial times to the present<br />
