THE SOM ACADEMIC ADVISING CENTER<br />

<strong>The</strong> Academic Advising Center, located in O’Hara Hall Suite 406, serves all students<br />

in <strong>The</strong> Kania School <strong>of</strong> Management. Staff advisors are available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30<br />

p.m., Monday through Friday, to provide assistance with pre-registration, major and general-education<br />

course selection, and assessment <strong>of</strong> academic performance and goals. <strong>The</strong><br />

Advising Center works closely with other campus resources to provide comprehensive<br />

advising services.<br />

THE LEARNING RESOURCES CENTER<br />

<strong>The</strong> Learning Resources Center is located on the main floor <strong>of</strong> Alumni Memorial Hall.<br />

It was established to help students accomplish their academic goals at the <strong>University</strong>. <strong>The</strong><br />

LRC provides services to supplement those <strong>of</strong>fered in the classroom. <strong>The</strong> Center is staffed<br />

by pr<strong>of</strong>essional staff and peer tutors. LRC staff, utilizing individualized, group, and computer-assisted<br />

instruction, provide assistance with oral and written communication skills, study<br />

skills, critical-thinking skills, academic evaluation and study help in specific courses.<br />

Academic services are available for diagnosed learning-disabled students. A Reading<br />

Specialist is also on staff for testing and consultation. Assistance is available on a drop-in or<br />

referral basis. Services are provided to students with learning disabilities in compliance with<br />

section 504 <strong>of</strong> the Rehabilitation Act.<br />

OFFICE OF THE REGISTRAR<br />

As part <strong>of</strong> the Enrollment Management Division, <strong>The</strong> Office <strong>of</strong> the Registrar supports<br />

the educational mission <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> by connecting students to the faculty, curriculum<br />

and classroom via the course-scheduling and registration process. <strong>The</strong> registrar also documents<br />

and validates the product <strong>of</strong> this dynamic connection in the form <strong>of</strong> schedules, rosters,<br />

grades, evaluations, transcripts and diplomas.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Registrar’s <strong>of</strong>fice serves students on a daily basis by answering questions, issuing<br />

transcripts, certifying enrollment status, and distributing forms and schedules. In addition,<br />

we advise students <strong>of</strong> academic policies and procedures, and important dates and deadlines.<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice publishes the master schedule <strong>of</strong> courses twice each year in October and<br />

March, conducts registration, collects and records grades, certifies degree eligibility and<br />

manages commencement.<br />

Course registration for returning students is conducted in April for the summer and fall,<br />

and in November for spring and intersession via Royal Touch, the <strong>University</strong>’s telephone<br />

information system, and UIS, the <strong>University</strong> Information System on the World Wide Web.<br />

Final grades are available via Royal Touch and UIS, while mid-term grades are available to<br />

students on UIS.<br />

includes: links to the <strong>University</strong> catalog, academic calendar, final-exam schedule, course<br />

schedules and descriptions; a student grade-point-average calculator, registration instructions,<br />

forms, commencement information, and the <strong>University</strong> Information System.<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>University</strong> Information System (UIS) on the web at https://uis.u<strong>of</strong>s.edu includes<br />

secure links to academic records, registration options, student class schedules, address information,<br />

tuition accounts and financial-aid information.<br />

Located in St. Thomas Hall, 301, the Office <strong>of</strong> the Registrar is open Monday-Friday,<br />
