<strong>Village</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Huntley</strong><br />

SUMMARY OF FUNDS<br />

GENERAL FUND (Fund 01)<br />

The General Fund is the largest <strong>and</strong> most active <strong>of</strong> all Funds. It is used to account for all<br />

revenues <strong>and</strong> expenditures for the <strong>Village</strong> which are not accounted for in any other<br />

fund. This is the operating fund for the Legislative/Executive, Administration, Finance,<br />

Police, Streets, Engineering <strong>and</strong> Development Services Departments.<br />

CAPITAL PROJECTS FUND (Fund 02)<br />

The General Fund <strong>Capital</strong> Development Fund is tracked separately from the General<br />

Fund, however for auditing purposes is combined with the General Fund balances. This<br />

Fund was created several years ago to assist in the monitoring <strong>of</strong> such fees as<br />

Annexation <strong>and</strong> <strong>Capital</strong> Development fees. No operational or salary costs are expensed<br />

from this fund.<br />

DRUG ENFORCEMENT FUND (Fund 03)<br />

State law requires that the monitoring <strong>of</strong> drug fine <strong>and</strong> fee revenues be kept separately<br />

from the General Fund. Revenues must then be used to fund drug awareness programs<br />

such as the DARE program.<br />

STREET IMPROVEMENT FUND (Fund 04)<br />

Pursuant to Board direction, the newly established fund was created in the 2006 <strong>Budget</strong><br />

for the purpose <strong>of</strong> accumulating funds for future transportation issues in <strong>and</strong> around the<br />

<strong>Village</strong>. The fund has been renamed in the <strong>2009</strong> budget to more accurately describe the<br />

use <strong>of</strong> funds. Funds transferred into this fund are from one-time revenue sources as<br />

authorized by the <strong>Village</strong> Board.<br />

MUNICIPAL BUILDINGS FUND (Fund 05)<br />

The Municipal Complex Fund was established to begin the preparation <strong>and</strong> planning for<br />

construction <strong>of</strong> a new Municipal Building. The building was completed in 2006 <strong>and</strong> the<br />

fund remains for the purpose <strong>of</strong> accumulating funds for total build out costs, future<br />

Public Works facilities <strong>and</strong> other building expenses.<br />
