VILLAGE MANAGER’S OFFICE<br />
Overview<br />
The <strong>Village</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Huntley</strong> operates under the Council-Manager form <strong>of</strong> government. The<br />
<strong>Village</strong> Manager is appointed by the <strong>Village</strong> Board. The <strong>Village</strong> Manager serves as the<br />
chief administrator <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Village</strong> <strong>and</strong> provides the benefits <strong>of</strong> training <strong>and</strong> experience in<br />
administering a local government’s staff, its projects, <strong>and</strong> its programs. The <strong>Village</strong><br />
Manager’s role is similar to that <strong>of</strong> a chief executive in a multi-department service<br />
organization.<br />
As administrative head <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Village</strong> Government, the <strong>Village</strong> Manager is responsible for<br />
the supervision <strong>and</strong> coordination <strong>of</strong> all Departments, <strong>and</strong> the appointment <strong>of</strong> all <strong>Village</strong><br />
personnel other than those members <strong>of</strong> the Police Department who are appointed by<br />
the Police Commission. The <strong>Village</strong> Departments include: Finance <strong>and</strong> Human<br />
Resources, Development Services, Engineering, Police <strong>and</strong> Public Works.<br />
In addition, the <strong>Village</strong>’s Economic Development activities are coordinated through the<br />
Manager’s Office.<br />
The <strong>Village</strong> Manager’s Office makes recommendations to the <strong>Village</strong> Board, implements<br />
the Board’s decisions, prepares the <strong>Village</strong> Board agendas, develops <strong>and</strong> recommends<br />
the proposed <strong>Village</strong> budget, <strong>and</strong> oversees internal communications between<br />
Departments as well as <strong>Village</strong> communications with the public through instruments<br />
such as the newsletter, the <strong>Village</strong> website, press releases <strong>and</strong> the annual calendar.<br />
In addition, the <strong>Village</strong> Clerk’s duties are performed as part <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Village</strong> Manager’s<br />
Office <strong>and</strong> h<strong>and</strong>les: maintenance <strong>of</strong> all ordinances <strong>and</strong> minutes, keeps the <strong>of</strong>ficial<br />
records <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Village</strong>, monitors liquor licenses, wastehauler licenses, raffle licenses,<br />
citizen inquiries <strong>and</strong> all Freedom <strong>of</strong> Information Act requests.<br />
<strong>Village</strong> Manager’s Goals for <strong>2009</strong><br />
• Continue monitoring the local economic conditions that have a significant<br />
impact on the <strong>Village</strong>’s overall financial well being <strong>and</strong> be prepared to act<br />
accordingly to <strong>of</strong>fset negative impacts.<br />
• To create a quality driven service environment that meets or exceeds the<br />
service level expectations <strong>of</strong> <strong>Village</strong> constituents/customers.<br />
