Previous paragraph (5) is omitted becausethe scope of<br />

the <strong>Regulations</strong> generally is use of vehicles on roads <strong>and</strong><br />

theconept of limiting certain regulations to highways <strong>and</strong><br />

thus theoreticallyexempting from them vehicles used<br />

only on roads which are not highways inconsidered to be<br />

of no practical significance;<br />

Previous paragraph (6) is no longer required(but see<br />

<strong>The</strong> exemption for having implements in item 7 of<br />

This Regulationexplains what constitutes compliance<br />

with an EC Directive or an ECE Regulation.<br />

<strong>The</strong> followingchanges are embodied—<br />

(a) items 1 <strong>and</strong> 6 in the Table, <strong>and</strong> paragraphs (4) <strong>and</strong><br />

(5) are appliedto track-laying vehicles;<br />

(b) item 8(a)in the Table is based on maximum gross<br />

weight instead of unladen weight <strong>and</strong>the conditions<br />

are otherwise simplified;<br />

(c) item 8(b)increases the limit for agricultural trailers<br />

to 12m;<br />

(d) the exemption for trolley vehicles inthe course of<br />

construction or delivery is omitted.<br />

Width <strong>The</strong> previouswidth limits for wheeled vehicles are<br />

extended to track-laying vehicles inplace of the lower<br />

limits for the latter, <strong>and</strong> the special lower limit forinvalid<br />

carriages is omitted. <strong>The</strong> detailed provisions of previous<br />

regulations 74(1)(b) <strong>and</strong> (c) exemptingcertain trailers<br />
