(2) <strong>The</strong> connectingsection of the two parts of every articulated bus to which this regulationapplies<br />

shall be constructed so as to comply with the provisions relatingto such a section specified in<br />

paragraph 5.9in ECE Regulation36 as regards vehicles within the scope ofthat Regulation.<br />

(3) Everyarticulated bus to which this regulation applies shall be constructed so thatwhen the<br />

vehicle is moving in a straight line the longitudinal median planesof its two parts coincide <strong>and</strong> form<br />

a continuous plane without any deflection.<br />

B<br />

BRAKES<br />

Braking systems of certain vehicles first used on or after 1st April1983<br />

15.—(1) Save asprovided in paragraphs (2), (3) <strong>and</strong> (4), the braking system of every<br />

wheeledvehicle of a class specified in an item in column 2 of the Table which isfirst used on or after<br />

1st April 1983 shall comply with the construction,fitting, <strong>and</strong> performance requirements specified<br />

in Annexes I, II <strong>and</strong> VII to Community Directive 79/489, <strong>and</strong>if relevant, Annexes III, IV, V, VI<strong>and</strong><br />

VIIIto that Directive, in relation to the category of vehicles specified in thatitem in column 3.<br />

Provided thatit shall be lawful for any vehicle of such a class which was first used before1st April<br />

1983 to comply with the said requirements instead of complying with regulations 16 <strong>and</strong> 17.<br />

2 Buses having a maximum gross weight which<br />

does notexceed 5000 kg.<br />

3 Buses having a maximum gross weight which<br />

exceeds 5000 kg.<br />

4 Dual-purpose vehicles notwithin item 1(a);<br />

<strong>and</strong> goods vehicles, havinga maximum gross<br />

weight which does not exceed 3500 kg, <strong>and</strong> not<br />

being motorcycleswith a sidecar attached.<br />
