35 18 11 Speedometers<strong>The</strong> requirements as to accuracy are<br />

omitted, as is the requirement, for vehiclesfirst used<br />

before 1 April 1984, to indicate speed in cither miles or<br />

kilometresper hour. Track-laying vehicles are effectilvely<br />

exempted from the requirementby virtue of the extension<br />

to them of the exemption for wheeled vehicles witha<br />

legal maxmium speed of not more than 25 mph (no<br />

tracklaying vehicle is permittedto be driven at more than<br />

20 mph).<br />

36 98 52 Maintenance of speedometers<br />

37 29 18 Audible warning instuments <strong>The</strong> previous exclusions<br />

have been simplified to a single exclusionof vehicles not<br />

driven at more than 20 mph. Two-tone horns are excepted<br />

fromthe requirement that any horn fitted to a vehicle shall<br />

be continuous <strong>and</strong>uniform <strong>and</strong> not strident.<br />

38 — — Motor cyclesidest<strong>and</strong>s<br />

<strong>The</strong> exemptions in revoked regulations 5 <strong>and</strong> 5AA, for<br />

vehiclescomplying with Community Directives, are<br />

withdrawn in respect of reversingalarms as the Directives<br />

do not cover reversing alarms.<br />
