Width<br />

8.—(1) Save asprovided in paragraph (2), the overall width of a vehicle of a class specifiedin an<br />

item in column 2 of the Table shall not exceed the maximum width specifiedin column 3 in that item.<br />

(2) Paragraph(1) does not apply to a broken down vehicle which is being drawn in consequenceof<br />

the breakdown.<br />

(3) No personshall use or cause or permit to be used on a road a wheeled agricultural motorvehicle<br />

drawing a wheeled trailer if, when the longitudinal axes of the vehiclesare parallel but in different<br />

vertical planes, the overall width of the twovehicles, measured as if they were one vehicle, exceeds<br />

2.5 metres.<br />

(4) In thisregulation “refrigerated vehicle” means any vehicle which is specially designed for the<br />

carriage of goodsat low temperature <strong>and</strong> of which the thickness of each of the side walls, inclusiveof<br />

insulation, is at least 45 mm.<br />

Height<br />

9.—(1) <strong>The</strong> overallheight of a bus shall not exceed 4.57 m.<br />

(2) Save asprovided in paragraph (3), no person shall use or cause or permit to be usedon a road<br />

any semi-trailer if—<br />

(a) anypart of the structure of the vehicle is more than 4.2 m from the ground whenthe vehicle<br />

is on level ground; <strong>and</strong><br />

(b) thetotal laden weight of the semi-trailer <strong>and</strong> the vehicle by which it is drawnexceeds 32,520<br />

kg.<br />

(3) For thepurpose of paragraph (2) the structure of a vehicle includes any detachablestructure<br />

attached to the vehicle for the purpose of containing any load,but does not include any load which<br />

is not a detachable structure or any sheetingor other readily flexible means of covering or securing<br />

a load.<br />
