12. Brown (Appellant) v. Scottish Ministers (Respondents) (Scotland)—The petition of the appellant
praying that the hearing date be vacated; and that security for costs as required by Standing
Order V be waived until the review of the refusal of legal aid has been finally determined (the
agents for the respondents not consenting thereto) was presented; and referred to an Appeal
Committee.
13. Davidson (AP) (Appellant) v. Scottish Ministers (Respondents) (Scotland)—The appellant’s legal
aid certificate was lodged.
14. Appeal Committee—The 36th Report from the Appeal Committee was agreed to and the following
Orders were made—
Al Fayed (Petitioner) and another and others (Petitioners) v. Commissioner of Police of the
Metropolis and others (Respondents)—That leave to appeal be refused; that the respondents
be at liberty to apply for their costs in accordance with direction 5.1(d); and, if the application
is granted, that the amount thereof be certified by the Clerk of the Parliaments if not agreed
between the parties.
Lewin (Northamptonshire County Council Trading Standards Service) (Petitioner) v. Purity
Soft Drinks Limited (Respondents)—That the respondents be invited to lodge objections by
21st April.
R v. Bradley (Petitioner)—That leave to appeal be refused.
15. Civil practice directions—The 37th Report from the Appeal Committee was made and it was
ordered that the practice directions applicable to civil appeals be revoked and that the new
edition agreed by the Committee be promulgated by the Clerk of the Parliaments.
16. Criminal practice directions—The 38th Report from the Appeal Committee was made and it was
ordered that the practice directions applicable to criminal appeals be revoked and that the new
edition agreed by the Committee be promulgated by the Clerk of the Parliaments.
