The wetland floodplain grade elevation rises and habitat conditions transition to<br />

include less cypress and more facultative species such as laurel oak, red maple,<br />

sweet gum, and American elm; as well as more ground coverage of low panicums<br />

and sedges where the canopy is more open than the obligate zone.<br />

The highest grade elevations are within the southeast portion of the wetland;<br />

a hardwood hammock with water oak, cabbage palm, laurel oak, live oak,<br />

American elm, and ground coverage of dwarf palmetto and sedges. Flood water<br />

elevation indicators are evident within two feet of the surface grade.<br />
