MATERIALS<br />

D3.1 Cement<br />

Cement shall be <strong>of</strong> Western Australian manufacture <strong>and</strong> in accordance with AS3972. Cement shall<br />

be contained in bags bearing the stamp <strong>of</strong> a NATA registered testing Authority. Any bag showing<br />

signs <strong>of</strong> "age caking" shall be rejected.<br />

D3.2 Water<br />

Water used in concrete or mortar shall be <strong>of</strong> potable quality, free from suspended material, organic<br />

matter, alkali, salts <strong>and</strong> other impurities.<br />

D3.3 Fine Aggregate<br />

The term "Fine Aggregate" is used to designate aggregate in which the maximum nominal size <strong>of</strong><br />

particles is 4.75mm. Fine aggregate <strong>for</strong> concrete <strong>and</strong> mortar shall be natural s<strong>and</strong> which shall consist<br />

<strong>of</strong> hard, angular, durable grains free from dust, s<strong>of</strong>t particles, alkali, organic matter, loam <strong>and</strong> other<br />

deleterious substances.<br />

Fine aggregate shall be in accordance with AS2758.<br />

D3.4 Coarse Aggregate<br />

Specification <strong>for</strong> Subdivision Construction <strong>of</strong> Road Works <strong>and</strong> Drainage<br />
