R11.2 Temporary Signing <strong>and</strong> Linemarking<br />

The Contractor shall ensure that the site is maintained in a safe condition <strong>for</strong> all traffic during the<br />

<strong>construction</strong> <strong>works</strong> <strong>and</strong> until permanent signing <strong>and</strong> marking is installed. Temporary signing <strong>and</strong><br />

pavement markings shall be provided to Main Roads Western Australia requirements, pending<br />

installation <strong>of</strong> permanent markings.<br />

R11.3 Permanent Roadway Signing <strong>and</strong> Linemarking<br />

Permanent <strong>road</strong> signs <strong>and</strong> linemarking shall be installed by Main Roads Western Australia .<br />

The Contractor shall insert 150mm PVC diameter sleeves at the location <strong>of</strong> all new signs.<br />

The Contractor shall spot the approved pavement marking in accordance with Main Roads Western<br />

Australia=s Specification <strong>for</strong> spotting in preparation <strong>for</strong> longitudinal line marking on <strong>road</strong>s. The<br />

Contractor shall remove any unnecessary pavement marking with 5-7mm aggregate seal or by<br />

grinding <strong>of</strong>f, depending on the condition <strong>of</strong> the existing surface. The Contractor shall then notify Main<br />

Roads WA through the completion <strong>of</strong> the AAdvice <strong>of</strong> Completion <strong>of</strong> Conditions Required Prior to the<br />

Provision <strong>of</strong> Services by Main Rods Western Australia@ <strong>for</strong>m. The Contractor shall maintain<br />

temporary signs <strong>and</strong> linemarking until permanent linemarking is installed.<br />

R11.4 Permanent Parking Area Signing <strong>and</strong> Linemarking<br />

The pavements shall be marked by one <strong>of</strong> the following materials to AS 4049:<br />

• Paint - with or without glass beads;<br />

• Thermoplastic or other applied insitu plastic materials - with or without reflective properties.<br />

Paint shall be resistant to bleeding when applied to a bitumen surface.<br />

Colour <strong>of</strong> line markings shall be white excepting that yellow may be used <strong>for</strong> parking lines to indicate<br />

where parking is restricted <strong>and</strong> blue may be used to indicate areas <strong>for</strong> disabled persons parking.<br />

Yellow golden yellow Y14 in AS 2700<br />

Black charcoal B65 in AS 2700<br />

The width <strong>of</strong> longitudinal or broken lane lines shall be 80mm minimum with 100mm preferred.<br />

The width <strong>of</strong> parking bay lines shall be 80mm minimum with 100mm preferred.<br />

Parking bays shall be marked with an unbroken line between spaces except those indicated by<br />

kerbing or other contrasting paving <strong>and</strong> a 1200mm T at the line <strong>of</strong> the carriageway.<br />
