HLTH 82 $93.75 Haliburton Sat, Nov 16 9:00am – 4:30pm PERSONAL ATTENDANT PLUS Is this for you? This 12-week program prepares you to assume the role of personal attendant. Prepare to become a part of a home support team that provides care to individuals in their own home environment. Training Highlights The program is delivered by a professional nursing educator with a healthcare background and experience in home health care services. This facilitator provides the theoretical classes, teaches the lab practice experiences, and conducts a final field practice evaluation for each student. Content experts in lifting techniques and CPR also contribute to the delivery of the program. Guest speakers from various health care agencies present as part of the curriculum. The program includes four courses in total, with 140 hours of theory and lab and 80 hours of field shadowing and supervised practice hours. Career Prospects This program is intended to prepare you to provide personal support services for clients in their own homes under the direction of the Health Care Team. A personal Attendant (PA) is qualified to work under the direction of a client, assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) in the home, workplace and social settings. Their duties range from providing personal assistance, performing activities related to household management, to tasks of daily living so that the clients can continue their participation within the work setting, community and society as they wish. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR REGISTERED MASSAGE THERAPISTS Chronic Pain in the Aging Population Explore chronic pain in the aging population and guidelines for treatment from the RMT perspective through lecture, related video, client profiles and hands-on treatment on actual clients. As a RMT you will learn how to measure success with your clients using outcome measures. We will discuss multiple-session series based on Structural Integration and treatment plans for chronic. Hands on experience will include clients with related chronic pain impairments. Gain quality tools to use in your practice when treating the aging population with chronic pain.
