Onsite Wastewater Professional Technician Training New!
These ten courses are offered in partnership with the Canadian Onsite
Wastewater Institute (COWI). Upon successful completion of all courses,
participants will be awarded with an Onsite Wastewater Professional
Tech (OWPTech) Certificate.
These courses can help you do the following:
• Train for onsite wastewater planning (septic system), installation,
maintenance and inspection
• Understand due diligence regarding the provincial onsite wastewater
industry
• Prepare for disciplines and practices within the onsite wastewater
industry
• Prepare to write the Provincial Septic Installer Licensing Exam

Introduction to Onsite Wastewater Systems
Onsite wastewater system inspectors often deal with systems with little
or no information available, and systems that are not easily accessed
from the ground surface. This course introduces participants to the most
commonly used methods to locate, expose and test components of an
onsite system including tanks treatment systems chambers, gravity-fed
fields, and pressure distribution mounds. Inspection knowledge reduces
the risk of missing critical items that can become serious problems.
Upon successful completion of this course, participants receive a credit
with COWI’s Onsite Wastewater Professional Tech (OWPTech) Program.

Onsite Grease Traps & Interceptors
This course is very important for system designers and installers
regarding the use of grease traps and interceptors for commercial and
industrial onsite wastewater applications. Upon successful completion
of this course, participants receive credit with COWI’s Onsite Wastewater
Professional Tech (OWPTech) Program.

Onsite Pumps and Controls
This course highlights the pumps used in onsite wastewater distribution
systems for pressure systems and dosed systems, as well as various
options currently available to control both time dose and demand
systems, determine pump curves and trouble shoot pump systems.
Further, it highlights installation tips and errors that contribute to short
system life. Knowing how to identify the right pump for a system, size it
properly and manage the flow is a critical skill set for onsite wastewater
technicians. Upon successful completion of this course, participants
receive credit with COWI’s Onsite Wastewater Professional Tech
(OWPTech) Program.
