Writing for the Web
Using a practical, hands on approach, examine specific issues and
writing techniques for writing for the web such as writing for emphasis
and visual impact, the basics of search engine optimization, sourcing
images and incorporating multi-media with text. Gain an understanding
of the various styles and requirements involved in writing for blogs,
online magazines, commercial websites and other text-based web
content.

Writing Grammatically
Catch up on the rules of English grammar in a comprehensive, easy-tofollow
manner. We will review sentence parts, explain sentence structuring
in depth, and conduct a practical review of stylistic conventions in
business writing.

Writing Short Stories
Explore character development, narrative unity, and plot construction
by analyzing selected short stories and participating in writing exercises.
Work step-by-step to produce a story suitable for publication. The
process of submission for publication as well as the various opportunities
for publication are examined.

FOR NEWCOMERS TO CANADA (LINC)
Are you new to Canada and would you like to meet new friends,
develop your English language skills and learn about Canadian
culture?
Come and join our friendly group to learn conversation skills,
reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary, to participate in field
trips and maybe to exchange some recipes.
Classes are offered from LINC level 0-8. Daycare subsidies are
available for eligible clients.
LINC is funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
Monday – Friday, 12:15pm – 3:15pm (levels 0 – 3)
Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 12:00noon (levels 4 – 7)
This free program is offered to permanent residents of Canada and
conventional refugees who have completed an assessment at the
New Canadian Centre in Peterborough. Daycare and bus passes
are available for eligible clients.
