Introduction to Perioperative Nursing<br />
Explore the fundamental principles and practices of perioperative<br />
nursing. Gain insight into the various professional roles and accountabilities<br />
of the health care team in the O.R. including those of the<br />
scrub and circulating nurse. Study the design and management of the<br />
O.R., as well as safety, infection control, and the application of aseptic<br />
technique. You will learn to scrub, gown, glove, and mask using strict<br />
aseptic technique. Lab practice will include draping and skin preparation.<br />
You will be introduced to the selection and use of surgical instruments,<br />
supplies, and equipment used in the surgical suite.<br />

Perioperative Nursing Certificate – IN-CLASS<br />
for RNs & RPNs<br />
Is This for You? Adding another specialization to your resume can open<br />
the doors to more employment opportunities and greater challenges.<br />
The certificate is intended to prepare RNs and RPNs to function effectively<br />
in the operating room or perioperative setting as part of the team.<br />
Recent RN grad students will require certification to participate in the<br />
Clinical placement courses.<br />
